The Right Path

I had such a great time visiting my alma mater, The University of Georgia. It's always special to come 'home.'
I spoke to the Georgia Scholastic Press Association's Media and Leadership Academy about my experience in the program, attending the Grady College of Journalism and my career as a writer and public relations consultant. My journey, in many ways, began in this very same program.
From my start as the editor of my high school newspaper to public relations major to years providing public relations consulting to top brands, I shared the importance of three character traits:
  1. Connections
  2. Curiosity
  3. Creativity
  4. Courage
The last one is A MAJOR KEY. I included an image from my attempt to ride a mechanical bull. Here's the thing. When you hop on a mechanical bull, you KNOW YOU'RE GOING TO FALL OFF. It's likely that people will laugh. There's no winning with a mechanical bull. This is so much like life and why courage -- and faith -- propels you to the next level personally and professionally.
Falling (and failure) happens all the time, but you cannot allow that to stop you from moving forward. There is no perfect path, free from disappointment, mistakes, challenges and danger!
